Futurama: The Complete Collection

I am a huge fan of Futurama. So much so that I imported the DVD boxsets years ago before the local suppliers were offering them here in South Africa.

So when I stumbled across this website – NotCot –  that featured the unboxing of a new DVD set for Futurama my heart started beating faster…I had found something for my birthday present wishlist… 🙂

Check out his website – http://www.notcot.com/archives/2011/02/inside-benders-head-futurama.php – for more great photos.

Then head over to Amazon to buy it for me 🙂

Google’s Pittsburgh Office: Penthouse of a 100 year old Biscuit Factory

Google is known for its offices that are designed to enable its staff to be more productive.

Home-Designing.com has a great article with a video and photos, showing how Google’s new office in Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania State, US) shines at the penthouse of a 100 year old biscuit factory in the city, thanks to architects from Strada. Assigned with the task of breathing Googleness (check out some of the European offices) into a space that had little to do with technology (or people for that matter), Strada conducted extensive research on how the average “Googler” perceives his office while coming up with the redesign.

Have a look at the site for other photos and a video – http://www.home-designing.com/2011/02/google-pittsburgh-office

If only I could provide my technicians with an office like this…sigh…

For the hardcore (rich) Terminator fan

If you are a (rich) Terminator fan and you have say R40000,00 (U$5800,00) lying around you might be interested in purchasing a to scale statue of a T-800 Endoskeleton Terminator Statue…

Yes folks you read right…a full sized statue!

The BigBadToyStore.com is taking pre-orders for the kit (with only $1200 deposit required). To quote the site:

From the sci-fi classic ‘Terminator 2: Judgement Day’, Sideshow Collectibles is proud to bring Terminator collectors the T-800 Endoskeleton – Version 2.0, standing atop an impressive display base littered with human skulls and debris. Standing over 6 feet tall, the T-800 Endoskeleton is high quality polystone, fiberglass, metals and other materials, complete with light-up eye features (power cord/plug-in). The T-800 Endoskeleton – Version 2.0 is a stunning and imposing piece, sure to become the centerpiece to any collection or display.

Statue:
77″ H x 68″ W x 53″ D   (1.95m H x 1.72m W x 1.35m D)

Base:
10″ H x 36″ W x 36″ D  (0.25m H x 0.91m W x 0.91m D)

One of the most iconic characters ever envisioned, the Terminator was brought to life on the big screen through the artistry and imagination of James Cameron and Stan Winston. Concealed inside each seemingly organic Terminator is a metal endoskeleton, a weapon with cunning and inhuman strength. T2 gave audiences an unforgettable view of John Connor’s stand against the SKYNET army. Marching through the rubble of deserted streets, in a barely habitable blasted cityscape, an Endoskeleton crushes a human skull beneath one foot. The Endoskeleton is capable of flawless termination, a chromed visage of death.

Product Number: SSC10952
Shipping Weight: 512.40 pounds  (232 kg)

Sigh…if only I had place in my study for one 🙂  oh yes and the cash…

Check out their site – http://www.bigbadtoystore.com – for other great (cheaper) items from all the different franchises like Futurama, Transformers, Ghost Busters, Robotech etc.

Perfect Odometer Timing

I love playing with numbers so when I saw this post I just had to repost it!

Jalopnik.com had this post:

A stunning commitment to odometer numerology

Matt Hardigree — Not only did Jalopnik commenter A Caving Ape have to plan 800 miles in advance for this odometer trick, he had to realize this was coming at 122,667 to precisely set his trip meter. Well done, sir. Well done.
